"Sometimes the simple act of taking care of education can keep families together."
Johnny Donoghue, CFPS Founder & Director
At CFPS we deliver emergency and temporary assistance with a focus on empowering individuals to achieve self-sufficiency and resilience.
We serve 3 specific groups with in Sierra Leone.
01
Family Empowerment and Advocacy Cases
Include children who have once resided at our Interim Care Facility (The Bridge). These cases have been reintegrated and returned to Family, Extended Family, or Kinship.
We help support these families financially with school fees, uniforms and other education expenses to avoid potential re-separation.
Sometimes the simple act of covering education fees can be the reason families stay together.
02
Separation Prevention Cases
This group was referred to us by the Family Support Unit of Sierra Leone Police in our community of Wellington and also Child Welfare Committees in our community of Old Wharf.
These are Cases at high risk of separation, alot of these families are survivors of the 2021 Wellington Tanker Explosion, 2022 & 2023 Floodings on the Eastern Side of Freetown.
None of these kids have spent a night in institutional care and we try to keep it that way, by helping to empower the family.
03
Mamaw's House
Mamaw's House is program of FEAP (Family Empowerment and Advocacy Program) and it supports Care Leavers (Young Adults that have aged out of Institutional Care). Many are in Senior years of High School, Vocational School or University.
We help this group transition to independence and empower them for their future.
